“Let me tell you about these shoes…”
What can I say about these old and worn pair of sneakers. None other than to say, I would never change my pair of Adidas for any other pair of shoes in the world.
It has been almost 10 years since my very first purchase, my very first pair since, truth be told, I had never, ever, bought or worn Adidas ever before.
Interestingly enough, what had first caught my attention to try the pair was their emblematic side stripes. And, the style. So easy to dress up or tone down. I needed that kind of fashion flexibility for my very first trip to Europe in a couple of days.
You see, I’d always wanted to explore the world. To find new adventures. And so, after years of wishing it, I finally grew the courage to make my dream come true and began my travel life. And through it all, I knew that my very first pair of Adidas would be the best footwear companion wherever I’d go, starting with my very first trip to Europe In a few days.
My local shoe store was the best place to begin my search for the famous Adidas pair. And no soon I found a white-and-skyblue style on the women’s isle. I eased my feet into them, twisting and turning the pair on my feet afterwards in every possible angle. The pair, a size 7, was a perfect fit. They looked good, felt really comfortable, and most importantly, my travel outfits would surely look super cute in them.
I immediately took them home, and quite excited, placed them right next to my ready-made luggage. And that’s when I knew. That’s when it hit me so ecstatically, so excitedly. I was going to begin my new world exploration.
After quite a list of trips taken over a span of 7 years, the pair still held their own, picking up all the dirt and dust – LOL! – from quite a few countries around the world, I can proudly say. And through it all, these Adidas kept me comfy, warm, and looking very fashionably cute.
They became part of the new travel life I had ventured into.
Sadly, I had to retire them after a long walk up the Paseo La Coracha in the medieval moorish Palace of Alcazaba, in the beautiful Malaga in Spain when the edge between the sole and the encasement separated. But they kept on holding on till the last minute of that trip when my plane landed back in home land.
But I am happy to say that a few months later, once next travel had been smack-down planned, I visited again the shoe store and bought myself a new pair of adidas to replace my old, beloved ones, this new pair embellished with pink stripes.
Till this day, my pinks – as I call them- have taken on the role of continuing giving me comfort, warmth and the cutest of fashions on all my other past travels, and I am certain they will continue on whatever new adventures my future travels will bring.
